Krystallin Loudermilk - Upcycled Ball Gown
Modeling Her Own Fashion
Made from Her Own Billboard Artwork
Featured in ArtPop’s 6th Annual Upcycled Fashion Show & Community Arts Fundraiser
Emerging here is a couture ball gown sculpted from reclaimed billboard vinyl and transformed into a work of modern luxury. The bodice is encased in an exposed lattice of hand‑shaped steel boning. Each rod has been heated, bent, creating a metallic exoskeleton that commands the runway with every step. Attached to the steel corset, a cascade of vinyl fringe introduces movement and texture. Billboard‑sized fragments of mica cut from vinyl form the gown’s sweeping skirt and train. Layered together, they move like mineral strata in motion.
