The Fabric Between Us explores denim as a fabric connecting generations, communities, and cultures. This piece represents the history of denim, cotton, and labor in the American South, honoring the cultural journey of denim in everything from Southern workwear to Northern city streetwear. Patchwork and safety pin details represent the connections between communities and generations. Sculptural transparent chambers preserve cotton and symbolic fragments of denim’s journey, while visible mending traces its evolution through resilience, migration, and identity.
