CHEEKS - VR MURAL FOR NORTHWOOD OFFICE

In our ongoing partnership with Northwood Office and their CREATE Ballantyne art program, we worked with local muralist Cheeks to design and virtually paint this striking “Welcome to Ballantyne” mural! Tasked with referencing vintage postcards along with the defining principles and look of the Balantyne area, Cheeks balanced these elements perfectly while using his Oculus equipment to compose the mural. The finished piece will eventually break into reality, and will live permanently at the Ballantyne campus!
Cheeks worked with videographer m00s0sic to capture the process of this VR mural’s creation in this video featuring footage captured both in-game and IRL shots.
As a part of this collaboration, ArtPop and Cheeks were invited to attend Northwood Office’s “Bowl Fest” event on May 9th. Stationed under the CREATE Ballantyne tent, attendees had the opportunity to learn about ArtPop’s mission and to meet Cheeks, see his work in action, and use his VR headset to step into virtual space and experience the “Welcome to Ballantyne” mural!
