Jamie Lykes II - Upcycled Evening Gown
Modeled by Leah Harmon
Billboard Artwork by Lori Schember

Upon seeing Lori Schember’s billboard titled Zion, Jamie was struck by its depiction of heavenly beauty, which inspired this creation. When Jamie first saw her piece, he saw a glimpse of heaven.
Zion takes its name from the biblical city of David, often seen as a symbol of the heavenly kingdom. For Jamie, it also echoes the hymns and stained glass windows of his childhood church, where reverence and creativity were first intertwined.
This look draws inspiration from those sacred windows. The bodice is corseted and sculpted from resin-treated billboard vinyl, while the skirt features pieces of billboard overlaid with carefully sewn PVC, creating the illusion of stained glass. At the center of the skirt, a cross appears—quiet yet powerful. The shoes carry elements of the original billboard artwork by the immensely talented Lori Schember
This design, modeled by Leah Harmon, is both a tribute and a transformation: from billboard to cathedral, from memory to movement, from art to altar.

Jamie says, “While most kindergartners were having the conversation of what they wanted to be when they grew up, I watched my mother battle a life-threatening illness known as lupus that fluctuated her weight and never allowed her to be as stylish as she wanted.” Jamie made it his goal to one day make clothes that would make every woman feel beautiful inside and out, no matter her shape or size.
